My biggest concern is the screen size. I like the idea of a small laptop but the 10 inch screen size discourages me.
If I need to go bigger then what is the most inexpensive full-size laptop with the best battery life?

i assume you’re looking for a very cheap laptop with a reasonable performance for all basic tasks.
this 15.4″ Toshiba laptop beats the Asus 1000HE in each aspect. the only difference is that it has no webcam.
its price is only $40 more than the Asus netbook. of course it has not that long battery life of the 1000HE, but it will be around 4 hours (if used without the CD/DVD drive).

I love my ASUS EeeePC 1000HE. It is a great little computer. Personally I don’t think a netbook is intended to be your number one computer, it should be your second or third computer (handy for browsing and email). Therefore the size is great because they are so small and portable.
The ASUS has the best battery life and the best keyboard. There is a really easy to read netbook buyers guide here…
I am typing this response on my 1000HE.
Good luck!

Yes it certainly is!!!! Personally, I think Asus laptop computers are great and I’ve had them for years. I use to use a Dell laptop computer, but I found several problems with it. When I used the Dell laptop computer the power cord would break very often. That’s when I decided to switch over to Asus. Asus is a company that provides you with power cords that do not break constantly. I found that I was paying hundreds of dollars each year in replacement power cords when I was working with dell. The other thing I like about working with Asus is that you can call their technical support line whenvever. Dell had hours that really weren’t that flexibile and I would have to wait forever on the phone. That’s why I use Asus Laptop Comptuers…. I talk a little bit more abut it on my blog if you wana check it out at all =) the blog is, good luck!
